Sainsbury's Bank was established in 1997. It is a subsidiary of the large UK supermarket group J Sainsbury plc. It does not operate branches but customers are able to purchase products in some Sainburys supermarket stores. It currently has 1.6 million individual customers. The range of products that it offers includes loans, credit cards, insurance, savings accounts, and currency exchange.
